This week I used the study skill of Substitution. Here’s how it works:
1. Matthew 9:28 I can see myself as the “blind” person (one who does not know the gospel) I hear Jesus say unto me (Janette) Do you Janette believe I can heal thee? And I will say yes.
2. Mark 2:15 Jesus is at my house for dinner and many publicans and sinners sat together with me, Jesus and His disciples.
3. Luke 7:22 Then Jesus answering me said; go my way and tell John the things I have seen and heard, the lame can walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf can hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.
I learned that the scriptures feel more meaningful if I read them like I was there and I was the one who Jesus was talking to and I was the one taking action and spreading the gospel. I encourage you to try this study skill and see how the scripture changes if Jesus were talking to you.
