Teaching Principles - discussion board entry

The house built upon a rock, this is really talking about out foundation of whether we build our lives on Christ and His teachings or not. Luke 6:48-49

I love this parable because it's so clearly stating what will result if we do follow Jesus Christ and His teachings.  If we build our lives upon Jesus Christ and His teachings  then Satan will not be able to shake us and talk us into doing the wrong thing.  In verse 49 we see how we will have spiritual destruction if we do not obey Christ's teachings and how easy it will be for Satan to tear us down and make us believe wrong choices are good choices. 

I have to keep in mind always that when I keep the gospel close to my heart I do not need to worry about what Satan is going to try next.  I have a spouse that is not a member of the church and at times says he does not believe that there is a God or a Satan.  I have troubles believing that he has no faith.  I pray often and in front of him in hopes that one day he will join me.  We (children and myself) also pray, read scriptures, and hold family home evening and we include my husband every week.  He sometimes joins us and sometimes not.  We will always work towards having him open his eyes to the gospel and we know that drives Satan out.
